A Gr8teful Lens
As a person who has endured profound suffering and instability for most of their life, Jen understands that how we choose to frame difficulties can potentially make the difference between summoning the strength to survive and giving up.
This is not stated to invalidate anyone's struggles; only to share that there are strategies we can employ to make ourselves more resilient. One of these ways is by regularly taking time to appreciate what we do have instead of focusing on what we do not. A beautiful flower, an interesting face, or the pattern of cracks in an old sidewalk are all opportunities to pause, recentre, and ground ourselves.
Jen practices a lifestyle of moderated asceticism that explicitly rejects the excess accumulation of material goods and wealth, while embracing discomfort and failure as opportunities for fresh self-assessment, learning, and evolution.
Jen views photography as a way to celebrate the present, and to honour the impermanence of all life and even the world itself. Jen hopes that their work will inspire you to take stock of the mundane beauty and wonder around you, and to perhaps create some of your own — even on the darkest of days.
